Title
Interview with Karen Munoz
            Description
Karen Munoz is the co-founder of Mano Amiga, a Central Texas organization that focuses on immigration and incarceration rights and reform. In this interview, Karen discusses the importance of organizing at a community level and the impact of municipal government. As the co-founder of Mano Amiga, Karen noticed a lack of resources for immigrants along the I-35 corridor, specifically the lack of an immigration rights attorney. She created Mano Amiga in hopes of providing the resources., framework, and tools for individuals vulnerable to injustice at the hands of the state. Her framework is rooted in abolition as she seeks to provide tools for folks targeted by mass incarceration and ICE through racist and classist systems. Karen began in this work through violence prevention work at a domestic violence organization. She has worked for organizations such as Latino Justice and Just Futures Law. Currently, Karen is pursuing a law degree to continue her work in immigration rights and defense.
